Tropical on Rails is one of the largest Ruby conferences in the world, created to strengthen the Latin American Ruby community. What began in Porto de Galinhas, Brazil, in 2015, is back for one more edition! The 2026 edition brought together 700+ participants in São Paulo. In 2027, we're returning to the same venue, the Pullman Grand Mercure in Vila Olímpia, on March 18 and 19, now with simultaneous translation in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Confirmed keynotes
Obie Fernandez · CTO at ZAR
Serial entrepreneur, author and one of the best-known figures in the Ruby community. Now he has set his sights on a new standard for how teams of humans should build software together in the time of AI coding agents: Impatient Programming.
Carmine Paolino · Founder at Plenty
Creator of RubyLLM, the Ruby AI framework, which just reached version 2.1, and founder of Plenty, where he builds ArchSpec, Spotifast and ZapFast. He co-founded Freshflow, which uses AI to cut fresh food waste in supermarkets, and helps organize Berlin.rb.
Mike Dalessio · Rails Core & Lead Developer at 37signals
He joined the Rails Core team in September and works on security, infrastructure and performance at 37signals. His newest project is Hot Cell, which moves Active Storage file processing into its own isolated container. He has been maintaining open source gems since 2006.
More speakers will be announced soon. Last year, most tickets went on opening day, so make sure to get yours early!
