AI and Learning: What's Actually Happening
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in America/Los_Angeles · Google Calendar
People are already learning with AI, and not always in the ways anyone planned for. This panel will dig into what’s actually happening: how students are using it, what it might be doing to how we think, and what’s worth protecting about learning when an answer is one prompt away.
Three things we’ll get into:
How AI differs from the tools we’ve always offloaded thinking to, like calculators and GPS, and where helpful offloading ends and skipped learning begins
What student AI use looks like at home and in school, which norms have actually stuck, and whether schools should teach AI, protect AI-free time, or both
What employers are noticing in people entering the workforce, and practical habits for using AI to think better rather than less
This is for anyone who teaches, parents, manages people, or just cares about how the next generation learns and works.
Panelists:
Seth Fleischauer, Founder & President of Banyan Global Learning, host of Make It Mindful: Insights for Global Learning
Mohan Nair, author of Unreachable: How Not to Lose Your Mind in an AI-Obsessed Era
Dr. Rachel Brown, Willamette University computer science professor and former NVIDIA research scientist who studies how neural networks organize information
