🍵 Steep Tea, Steep Art 🎨

Tea is best when you give it your attention. So is your creative life.

In Chinese, preparing tea with care is called 茶藝, "tea art." Gongfu brewing never rushes the leaf. Short steeps, a little space between each, and the tea opens up gradually, revealing something new every time.

Creativity works the same way. It grows in small steps, with space to breathe and people who care around you. Come steep with us for a slow afternoon of three teas and a few simple reflections.

What we'll do

Jerry will brew three of his favorite teas from his personal collection, gongfu style, guiding you to slow down and savor each cup. Each tea comes with a question:

What's calling you? An idea, creative itch, or artistic pull that keeps coming back.

What's in the way? The resistance or stories that make it hard.

What would be fun? Ways to play and experiment with what's calling you.

Each tea is brewed three times. On the first steep, you'll sip quietly and reflect. On the second, you'll share with a partner. On the third, we'll come together as a group.

When we taste tea together, everyone notices something a little different. Sometimes someone else puts words to what you were tasting all along. We hope the same happens with your creative ideas, and that the people around the table help you see them in a new way.

Your host

Jerry is a tea nerd who has sourced leaves abroad and hosted many tastings over his four years with gongfu tea. He has also facilitated meditation groups in the Plum Village tradition for five years. He's a multidisciplinary artist, most recently exploring watercolor, risograph, and poetry, and leads Unscene SF, a zine about San Francisco people and culture.
