The Beat x Zurich Film Festival: The Fight for Corso

What happens when the future of a cinema becomes a fight over culture, power and who gets to decide? For a special edition at the Zurich Film Festival, The Beat brings its live journalism format to the NZZ Lounge. Through spoken-word narration, recorded voices, sound and music, we reconstruct how the fight over Corso unfolded, from the City’s decision to the resistance that followed. At the heart of the story is NZZ journalist Michael von Ledebur, whose reporting helps us unpack the conflict and the bigger question behind it: who gets to decide the future of culture in Zurich? After the story, we open the conversation. In groups, we discuss the questions the story raises, before coming back together to share perspectives.
