Texas Longhorns vs Mississippi State Bulldogs @ DKR

The playoff dream is alive again, but there's no room for another slip! 🤘

After a thrilling 34-27 upset of No. 7 Ole Miss, Texas has climbed back to No. 11 in the national rankings, reviving its College Football Playoff hopes. Now the Longhorns (5-2) welcome Mississippi State (4-3) for a Halloween showdown that may look straightforward on paper, but carries enormous consequences.

With two losses already, Texas has very little margin for error. Beating a top-10 opponent was a major statement, but playoff contenders must also take care of business against teams they're expected to beat. Another loss could effectively end the Longhorns' postseason ambitions.

Arch Manning showed his playmaking ability against Ole Miss, while Raleek Brown delivered a breakout 157-yard rushing performance. But Texas also surrendered a 21-point lead, committed three turnovers, and struggled with penalties. Against Mississippi State, the challenge is to turn flashes of brilliance into four quarters of disciplined football.

The Bulldogs arrive with problems of their own, including the season-ending injury to starting quarterback Kamario Taylor. Texas will be heavily favored, but Mississippi State's offense has shown enough explosiveness to punish complacency.

Texas has the talent and home-field advantage to win comfortably. The real question isn't simply whether the Longhorns can win, but whether they can deliver the convincing, complete performance that playoff contenders need as November approaches.
