WALKING THROUGH ART, NATURE & FORGOTTEN PLACES

Join me for a 20 km loop around Bad Belzig in Brandenburg’s Hoher Fläming. Following the Internationaler Kunstwanderweg (International Art Hiking Trail), we’ll discover outdoor sculptures and art installations tucked away in autumn forests.

Along the way, we’ll climb Hagelberg (200 m), the highest hill in the Fläming and the site of a historic battle in 1813. We’ll then explore Groß Glien, a deserted medieval village where the remains of an old church and contemporary art installations offer glimpses into its forgotten past.

Towards the end of our hike, we’ll pass Burg Eisenhardt, a medieval castle overlooking Bad Belzig. If time permits, we’ll take a few minutes to explore its courtyard, which is free to enter, before returning to the railway station.

Far from an ordinary forest walk, this is a journey through art, nature and places with stories to tell.

HIKE AT A GLANCE

Distance: Approx. 20 km, circular route

Ascent: Approx. 210 m

Difficulty: Moderate; suitable for walkers comfortable with the distance

Pace: Approximately 4 km/h while walking

Duration: Approximately 5.5–6 hours, including breaks

Group size: Maximum 12 participants

Cost: Free. Everyone covers their own transport, food and personal expenses.

TRAVEL & COORDINATION

Meeting point: Berlin-Charlottenburg railway station

Meeting time: 09:05

We’ll travel together from Berlin-Charlottenburg to Bad Belzig by regional train RE7. The walk is planned to start in Bad Belzig at around 10:30.

We will travel by public transport where practical. Please make sure you have a valid ticket for the required fare zones. Deutschlandticket is valid on the RE7; a Berlin ABC ticket alone is not sufficient for Bad Belzig.

The exact meeting point, train connection, platform and return-travel information will be shared with approved participants through Luma.

Questions? You can contact me through Luma's Contact Host option or join our Telegram group.

LUNCH & CAFÉ STOP

We'll stop for a packed lunch along the route, weather and conditions permitting.

Please bring your own food, snacks and drinks. A café or restaurant stop is not guaranteed unless explicitly mentioned in the description. Bring cash if you’d like to buy something.

We'll also take a few short breaks along the way, but the aim is to maintain a comfortable, steady group pace.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

These hikes are about enjoying nature, discovering interesting places and sharing the experience with others. A few simple principles help keep them enjoyable for everyone.

Stay together. Please keep up with the group and let me know before stepping away.

Respect the surroundings. Stay on permitted paths, respect wildlife, vegetation, private property and any artworks or historical structures. Leave no rubbish behind.

Respect the group. No smoking, vaping, fires or portable speakers during the hike.

Be prepared. Please assess whether the distance, pace and terrain suit your fitness and experience.

Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome if they can comfortably complete the stated distance.

We are walking as a group, so individual pace adjustments or extended stops may not always be possible.

WEATHER & ROUTE CHANGES

We hike in most weather conditions, including ordinary rain. However, storms, thunderstorms, severe ice or other unsafe conditions may require cancellation or changes to the route.

I'll share a go/no-go update on Thursday, with an additional update on Friday if necessary.

Weather, trail conditions, transport disruptions or group progress may require adjustments to the planned route, timing or distance.

During the winter months, limited daylight is an additional consideration. We will aim to finish before dark.

REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION

Please register through Luma. Your place is confirmed only once your registration has been approved.

To keep the experience personal and manageable, the group is limited to 12 participants.

If your plans change, please cancel your registration as early as possible so someone on the waiting list can join.

Repeated no-shows without notice may affect approval for future hikes.

ABOUT THE HOST

I'm Tamer. I organize hikes around Berlin and Brandenburg, exploring places that have a story to tell, from quiet forests and landscapes shaped by history to overlooked corners and abandoned places slowly reclaimed by nature.

PARTICIPATION & SAFETY

This is a private, non-commercial group walk, not a professionally guided tour. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. Each participant is responsible for their own safety, fitness, equipment and personal decisions throughout the hike. The organiser does not provide participant insurance.
