two communities. one mountain. round two.last time we hiked Schliersee to Tegernsee.this time we chase the sunset from the Riederstein, high above the lake.

Riederstein loop from Tegernsee station8.9 km. ~3 hours walking. 420 m up, 420 m down.moderate. steep steps through the forest at the end, so good shoes please.top stop: the little Riederstein chapel, views over Tegernsee AND Schliersee 🌲
the plan:
14:10 meet at München Hbf, at the start of platform 3414:29 RB57 to Schaftlach
15:16 rail replacement bus from Schaftlach to Tegernsee (construction that weekend, it's on the normal ticket)
15:50 arrive Tegernsee, we start walking straight from the station
17:50 up at the Riederstein chapel
18:34 SUNSET 🌅
~18:50 we head down together with headlamps
~20:00 back at the lake
then: bus 20:10 home (Munich Hbf 21:32) or stay for dinner at the Bräustüberl Tegernsee 🍺 and take the 20:38 or 21:38 bus
bring:
a headlamp. NOT optional, the way down is in the dark
hiking shoes with grip
warm layers + a jacket, it gets cold fast up there after sunset
snacks + water
Deutschlandticket or a Bayern ticket
