Show & Tell @TheMalaysian.ai Residency: Hardware Edition

Every Thursday, builders, creators and AI enthusiasts gather at 500 Global's office (in AICB) for a Show & Tell session.

🎙️ This week we're also recording the Malaysian AI Podcast live, with Yeng Tan. Yeng grew up in TTDI, built AI products at GoDaddy in San Francisco, and is now co-founder & CEO of Lekondo, a New York–based "third space for fashion" backed by a16z speedrun (~US$3M raised, 100,000+ users in 50+ countries). At 3:30pm we'll chat with him about going from Malaysia to Manhattan, raising from Silicon Valley, and building AI that understands taste. Bring your questions!

At 4:30pm, it's Show & Tell: Hardware Edition. Everyone takes turns sharing what they learned this week: features shipped, ideas explored, AI use cases, research. This week we'd especially love to see hardware: boards, bots, sensors, anything physical you've built with AI. It's a 3 min share and a 1 min Q&A / feedback sesh.

Note: This is not a pitch. It's a session with other builders to share what you're learning, help the community, and get feedback.

From 12pm to 3:30pm, we co-work on our own projects and startups, surrounded by the highest concentration of AI builders in Malaysia.

About the Malaysian AI Residency

This gathering is part of the Malaysian AI Residency, a 2-month intensive program where teams build their AI startup ideas full-time at the office. Every Thursday, we open 10 seats for people building in AI who want a space to focus. We keep it small on purpose so it stays meaningful.

As spaces are limited, we vet everyone. If you've never joined us before, please share enough about yourself and what you're working on in the registration.

If this feels like your kind of Thursday, sign up & share this Luma with a friend!

FAQ's

Will I be recorded? Yes, the 3:30pm podcast is a live recording, so audience questions, photos and video may appear in the episode and on our socials. Tell us at check-in if you'd rather stay off camera.

Can I just come for the podcast and Show & Tell? Yes! Please arrive by 3:15pm.

Do I need hardware to present? No. Hardware gets the spotlight this week, but software demos and learnings are just as welcome.

Can I get everyone to sign an NDA? NDAs aren't our thing; we're an open community. If your work is sensitive, share the high-level concepts only.

What if I don't want to present? We strongly encourage it. It's one of the best ways to get unstuck and get feedback, and no polished demo is needed. If you're really not ready, you're welcome to observe.

Do I need to be a developer? No. Engineers, designers and no-code founders are all welcome, as long as you're actively building with AI.

What should I bring? Your laptop, charger, whatever you're working on (hardware included!), and a question for Yeng. Running shoes & a change of clothes for the 7 PM Run Club (separate Luma).

Lunch options? Bring your own, or try Thyme Out, the Bank Negara food court, or the FamilyMart vending machine if you're really locking in.

How do I join the Residency full-time? Apply at malaysian.ai/residency.

Is there a fee? Nope, it's free. We cap it at 10 seats, so only RSVP if you can make it, and mark yourself as not attending if plans change so someone on the waitlist can take your slot.

See you there!
