12MIN.ME gets people, ideas and perspectives to the point.
In Hamburg since 2013: short talks, real questions, no waffle. The principle: 12 minutes of talk, 12 minutes of Q&A.
The 12MIN.ME Startup Slam turns that into a contest:
12 startups. 144 seconds each. One stage. One room that decides.
144 seconds is twelve times twelve, the twelve of the house. The clock runs on the big screen for everyone to see. At zero your time is up.
No pitch circus. Storytelling, showmanship and attitude are expressly allowed. At the end it is not only the idea that counts, but whether you win the room.
The jury
Five people judge the twelve pitches:
Hugo Paquin, partner and podcast co-host at found
Freya Oehle, founder and CEO of Dreitausendsassa
Victor M. Reincke, single family office, direct investments in tech, defense and finance
Philipp Hartmann, business angel and VC investor
Prof. Dr. Pauline Reinecke, professor of management and organisation at Leuphana University Lüneburg
They look at four things: the problem, the solution, the team, and whether you win the room.
How the three finalists are chosen
Three rounds of four pitches. Who pitches when is drawn live on the night, in front of the room. After every round the jury talks about each of the four pitches and nominates one startup for the final.
How the room decides the winner
The jury nominates, the room decides. In the final the applause for each finalist is measured live on the big screen, and the loudest room wins. The winner takes home the golden anchor.
Want to pitch?
Twelve slots, the call is open. Email [email protected] with your startup, what it does in one line, who pitches, ideally the pitch itself and why you should be there. Every startup we confirm appears in its slot on 12m.in.
The rules on stage: less is more, in the spirit of Don't waste your time. In 144 seconds it is about you and not about your slides. We recommend one slide with a screenshot of your tool, your solution or of what you do. Three slides is the maximum, a short video works too. Nothing at all is just as welcome. That is the challenge.
Who we look for: especially tech startups, deep tech and AI, and we are open to everything else as well: materials, science, food and whatever else you bring. Just try us, we are curious.
We get back to you soon. With many applications it can take a little longer. If you hear nothing, just ask again.
Good to know
Tickets are €12, drinks and simple snacks included. Every registration is approved by the hosts, because the room has limited space. The pitches are in English. We take photos and film parts of the night; if you prefer not to be in them, ask for a red wristband at the door.
Doors 7:12 PM · Showtime 7:48 PM · Final 9:12 PM · Party from 9:24 PM
Music by High.Z, between the pitches and afterwards.
