Following the Data: An Experiment in Ruby Program Slicing

We've got a main talk by Theo Melo and we're inviting people to bring a lightning talk, if you can drop Weston or Michael a note if you want to present a lightning talk.
Main Talk
We’ve all inherited codebases where figuring out why something happens takes longer than fixing it. What if we could trace a value backward through a real execution and identify exactly which parts of the code contributed to it?
In this talk, I’ll share an early experiment combining Ruby’s Prism and TracePoint to explore dynamic program slicing: what it might teach us about unfamiliar codebases, how it could help developers and coding agents, and the challenges I’m discovering along the way.
Speaker
Theo Melo is a developer, with over 8 years of experience. He is also a dad with a beautiful daughter and two cats.
Lightning Talks
We'll open the floor and welcome lightning talks from the attendees. A lightning talk is 5 minutes in length about anything related to the ruby community. It's a low pressure way to get started with public speaking or to float a new idea that you want feedback on. If you have wanted to do a lightning talk now is your chance! We're a friendly crowd!
