Accent Sisters presents The Wyrd Sisters, a group exhibition curated by Colleen Dalusong. The artists in the exhibition engage with fantasy, the supernatural, and the peculiarities of fate.

“Wyrd” is a noun formed from the Old English verb weoþan, meaning “to come to pass, to become.” Originally, “wyrd” was a concept in Anglo-Saxon culture corresponding to the ability to control fate or personal destiny, as seen in stories such as Shakespeare’s Macbeth, in which the three witches who meddle in the characters’ lives are referred to as The Weird Sisters. Over time, “wyrd” has shifted to become the Modern English “weird,” referring simply to the strange and uncanny.
