Two short live demos to set the pace. The rest of the night you build.

The formatYou get a small working ticketing app for (fictional) Vegas shows: real code, real tests, a working UI. First, you add a feature with Claude Code, picking from a menu that runs from first-timer to “this will make you think.” In the second half, you build an AI feature into the same app with the Claude API, and write your first eval to check that it actually works. After each round, we swap the best tricks, the places Claude went wrong, and how people caught it.

Who it’s forEngineering students and working engineers. Never used Claude Code? The starter features are made for you. Use it daily? The advanced ones are yours. The idea is to get together to learn, build, and share.

Bring

Your own laptop and charger.

Claude Code, installed and signed in. Test it at home, not in the parking lot. Setup notes go out a few days before.

A Claude plan. Pro is enough; Max is better. The free tier won’t get you through.

API credits are on us. Everyone gets a credit code for the API half.

On the night

5:15 PM: Doors open, with setup help if you need it.

5:30 PM: Welcome, then a live demo.

5:55 PM: Build a feature.

6:45 PM: Share what you learned.

7:05 PM: Demo: building with the Claude API.

7:20 PM: Build an AI feature.

8:10 PM: Share and show what you built.

8:30 PM: Close.
