Hello Designers!

Through our past Designers in the Park gatherings, we’ve had fun sharing food and drinks, playing games, and connecting with fellow designers. This time, let’s get to know each other better by sharing what we do, what we’re working on, and who we are as designers!

Join us for Work Sharing Day on November 7 at Rennie Hall, Emily Carr University of Art + Design! Through hands-on workshops, five-minute work shares, and open group conversations, we’ll exchange ideas, share our creative processes, and talk about the questions, challenges, mistakes, and discoveries that shape our practices.

Whether you’re a design student, educator, industry professional, or independent designer, come share your work, learn from one another, and explore how we can better support Vancouver’s design community together!

The event time (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM)is tentative and may be adjusted based on participants’ availability and proposed activities.

The This event is generously supported by the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) at Northeastern University and Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

You can choose multiple ways to participate from the options below.

Through a Workshop

You can propose a session lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours workshop, where other participants can explore your work and learn through hands-on activities. Your workshop can focus on any stage of the design process, from an initial idea or sketch to a completed project, an ongoing experiment, or a prototype you’re currently developing. You don’t need to have a finished project to share! We welcome all kinds of ideas, creative processes, and experiments.

Multiple workshops may run simultaneously, allowing participants to move between sessions and explore different design practices.

Through a 5-Minute Work Exchange Relay

Share your work, design practice, ideas, or areas of interest with a small group in a casual and friendly setting. You will have 5 minutes to introduce what you are working on, using slides, printed/physical materials, prototypes, or simply talking about your work. You are welcome to share work at any stage of the process, from an early idea or work in progress to a finished project.

After each sharing, the group will have 5 minutes to ask questions, exchange thoughts, and share ideas. It’s a chance to get to know what other designers are working on, discover different perspectives, and have informal conversations about each other’s work.

Through an Open Conversation, with the Option to Observe or Participate in Other Activities

In this option, you can join a small-group conversation around design-related topics that interest you. Using a prepared list of questions or a conversation placemat as a guide, you’ll have a chance to exchange thoughts, share experiences, and explore different perspectives in a casual setting. For the other activities throughout the event, you can choose to participate, observe, or simply connect and network with other designers.

Thank you!Jihyun&Charlie
