Fast chargers along the freeway get the headlines, but most EV charging happens at home, and that’s where many Californians still run into trouble. Renters, multifamily residents, and people in rural communities often can’t count on reliable charging where they live. Join us at the California Automobile Museum for an evening on what’s working, what isn’t, and what it will take to close the gap.
Eric Cahill, SMUD. He’ll kick off the evening with a presentation on SMUD’s new charging app, followed by a brief Q&A.
Thomas Hall, Executive Director of CleanStart (moderator). He’ll share CleanStart’s work with the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) on EV charging, then lead the panel discussion.
Evan Kirchhoff, CEO and co-founder of OpenRoad Technologies. OpenRoad is building the first residential DC fast charger.
Sven Thesen, EV consultant and co-founder of EVplugbox. He’s a returning SacEV guest working on a low-tech way to give apartment and condo residents the same cheap, reliable charging that single-family homeowners enjoy.
Beto Beas, Beas Auto Sales. He’ll speak to what it actually takes to get someone to buy an EV, drawing on the questions and hesitations he sees with buyers every day.
Whether you already drive electric, are thinking about your first EV, or work in charging, energy, or local government, this event is for you. Come early to connect with others who care about making EV charging work for everyone, and bring your questions for the panel.
