Berlin Tea Week special: Evening tea gatherings- Sour Tea Tasting

Berlin Tea Week Special: Evening Tea Gathering- Sour Tea Tasting📅 November 4th · CSPACE Berlin

We are delighted to welcome Patrik Gertschen from Zurich, joining Claudia Priemer for an evening dedicated to one of tea’s best-kept secrets: Suan Cha — Sour Tea 🍵

Suan Cha / Sour Tea — The Tea That Ripens Underground for Over a Year

Deep in the mountains of Yunnan, the De’ang and Bulang peoples guard a rare tea tradition: hand-picked leaves are briefly cooked, pressed tightly into bamboo tubes, sealed with red clay, and buried 60cm deep in the tea garden. Naturally lacto-fermented without air for over a year — before seeing daylight again and being dried in the sun.

The result? Fruity and sour on the first sip, with a sweet, lingering finish. Naturally rich in GABA. 🌿
