RSVP opens on Oct 2nd Friday 8 AM.
Come join us for a two-night cabin trip at Point Beach State Forest, just about 3.5 hours from Chicago! We'll spend the weekend exploring a winter wonderland along the Ice Age Trail before cozying up in a rustic, wood-heated cabin with outdoor restrooms. You'll be sharing bunk beds in a communal setup—a great way to get to know your fellow adventurers!
Itinerary:
Dec 11 (Friday): Arrive at the cabin anytime after 3:00 PM.
Dec 12 (Saturday): Day hike along the Ice Age Trail.
Dec 13 (Sunday): Morning day hike, then head home around noon.
Who Can Join: While this is not a backpacking trip, spots are reserved for members who have backpacked or participated in previous group events. All participants must have prior camping experience.
What to Bring: Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, cold-weather clothing, a camp stove, and your own meals.
Cost & Payment: $25 per person. This fee covers the campsite fee, firewood, and the Meetup admin fee. When you sign up, you will receive instructions on how to submit payment to secure your spot. Please make the payment as instructed. The fee is non-refundable unless the organizers cancel the trip (in which case, we will refund the amount minus any cancellation fees required by the state park).
Carpooling & Additional Expenses: Gas and Wisconsin State Park entrance fees will be shared among the passengers in each vehicle. We will NOT formally arrange carpools. If you need a ride or can offer one, please coordinate on the message board.
Other Important Guidelines:
Ethics: We practice Leave No Trace principles.
