Join Dr Carla Mateus, Lecturer at Maynooth University and former Met Éireann researcher, for a fascinating look at climate change and Ireland’s extreme weather — from heatwaves and storms to changing ice sheets and coastal environments. Carla will explore historical weather diaries and records from Ireland, alongside the science behind ice cores, tree rings, lake sediments and other clues from the past, to show how we understand our changing climate and what it might mean for the future. After each talk there’s a live Q&A, drinks, conversation, and a chance to meet new people who are curious about the world and up for a good night out that’s a little different from the usual pub routine.
