Natural Bridges State Park and West Cliff Drive (Front Country)
Rating: 1A1 (4.5 miles, 50 feet)
Natural Bridges State Park is the home of the Monarch Butterfly Nature preserve. The monarchs typically begin arriving in mid-October and leave by mid-February (In 2013, 2016, and 2017 the monarchs had left by January). Upon arrival, we’ll check out the butterfly preserve and hopefully will see lots of Monarch Butterflies. After observing the butterflies we’ll head off for a walk along West Cliff Road with wide ranging views of the Pacific Ocean. We’ll hike there and back to the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum for a walk of about 4 miles. Bring a lunch, warm layers, sun protection, and money, $10.00, for the park entry fee. Meet at 10:30 am in the park lot (MAP).
The hike is on rain or shine.
No pets allowed. Participants must be 18 years or older.
