This highly rated drama thriller was written, produced, and directed by Tim Blake Nelson, who I loved in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou", but who you will have seen in many films you know and love. He gathered this all star cast to bring this true story to life: Amanda Seyfried, Scoot McNairy, Wunmi Mosaku, Devyn Tyler, Missi Pyle, Grant Harvey, William Jackson Harper, Tim Blake Nelson, and Elizabeth Marvel
I can't wait to see and hear Tim Blake Nelson discuss this film!
Signing up below means you want a ticket when we get them during the Member sale from 9/28-9/30/2026.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MFF has changed their festival ticketing policy. So, we will only be able to offer Member discount pricing to THE FIRST 6 RSVPS on each event. After that number has been reached your tickets will be priced at the General rate. Your event host(s) will count as one of the 6 Member tickets. So, be sure to RSVP ASAP if you want that Member discount.
Tickets go on sale Monday, September 28 at 10:00am to Montclair Film Members and Thursday, October 1 at 10:00am to the public.
General $20
Member $17
DISCUSSION: TBD
SYNOPSIS: Based on actual events, Timothy Blake Nelson’s THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF WILSON SHEDD is the story of a teacher named Karen (Amanda Seyfried) who is struggling in an abusive marriage and takes a job leading creative writing classes at a maximum security prison. When she falls for a charismatic inmate, the consequences call into question not only the nature of punishment and retribution, but the very limits of our humanity. THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF WILSON SHEDD is the powerful story of tragedy and retribution.
Q&A with Writer/Director Tim Blake Nelson follows the screening.
