Hi everyone!
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, I’m planning a hike in neighbouring Slovakia. Join us for a scenic circular hike from Devínska Nová Ves to Devín Castle and back.
Highlights
🏰 Devín Castle (Hrad Devín) – One of Slovakia’s most impressive historic landmarks, dramatically situated above the Danube.
🌊 Danube Views – Beautiful panoramic views of the river and the surrounding countryside.
🌿 Devínska Kobyla Nature Reserve & Sandberg – Explore a fascinating natural area in the Little Carpathians, famous for its unique geological formations and fossil discoveries.

This hike combines beautiful natural scenery with history and culture. We’ll explore the impressive Devín Castle, enjoy views of the surrounding landscape and visit the fascinating Sandberg area, known for its geological formations and fossil-rich history.
At Devín Castle, there are several restaurants where we can stop for lunch and enjoy a relaxing break together.
We’ll allow additionally approximately one hour for anyone who would like to visit the castle (entrance fee approximately €8). Those who prefer can simply enjoy the surroundings.
Meeting Point & Travel
Meeting time: 07:45
Meeting point: Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna Central Station) near the ticket machines as indicated on the photo
Outbound train: REX8 to Bratislava hl.st., departing from Wien Hauptbahnhof at 08:14.

Please arrive a few minutes early so we can gather and get organised before departure.
Please buy your tickets before boarding the train! Without discount cards the train is approx. €12,10 each direction, tickets can be purchased on the day of travel.
