Please note: I am taking a Meetup break after this event until Dec 2nd. I’ll be cramming several events in December. Starting January 2027 I will be hosting ONLY one event per month for most of the year with the exception of April. My free time is extremely limited for the next two years while I tackle many projects. I need your help to keep the Meetup group active. I’ll be sending out a mass email explaining different options on how you can get involved. I hope a few of you who care enough about the group can help out. Thank you so very much for your consideration!

🎤🕺🏻🍽️ Come join us for a super fun evening enjoying delicious Thai cuisine and being entertained by Danny Memphis who does an outstanding rendition of Elvis’ greatest hits. You’re going to get "All Shook Up" and truly love this!! I’ve arranged for great seating with his publicist. No cover charge. Dinner is required. Prices are very reasonable.

Entertainment History
Thai Elvis (NOT Danny Memphis): The restaurant became a legendary Los Angeles landmark largely due to Kavee "Kevin" Thongpricha, who performed for years as the resident Thai Elvis impersonator. Along with reasonably priced delicious Thai cuisine he virtually put Palms Thai on the map for the most entertaining venue to enjoy Thai food in L.A.

Palms Thai was prominently featured in Los Angeles magazine's "Best of LA" issue in 2002, where Kevin famously won the title of "Best Thai Elvis". The feature highlighted the restaurant's iconic resident performer, Thai Elvis who entertained diners for years with his campy, hip-shaking interpretations of Elvis Presley's repertoire alongside authentic, fiery Thai dishes. In 2011 Thai Elvis “Kevin” had a stroke, retired and moved back to Thailand. A bronze statue remains inside the dining room to honor his hip-shaking legendary performances.

Current Status: After Thai Elvis retired they continued with occasional live performers mainly by Jazz singers until just recently. Performances by “Elvis” are now BACK. Woohoo!!! 🎤🕺🏻

ABOUT DANNY MEMPHIS
Danny Memphis is an Elvis Presley Impersonator and Elvis Tribute Artist. Danny was born and raised in Memphis, and is regarded as a World Class Elvis natural vocalist, performer and musician. Danny, along with his first band, won first place in Memphis in a contest against dozens of acts at the Overton Park Shell, the same stage that Elvis performed his first professional show and has appeared on radio and national television.

Past performances include 20th Century Fox Studios, The U.S. NAVY, The Grand Duchess of Russia, additional shows at Palm Springs Resorts, Hilton Hotels, and numerous fund raisers like the American Cancer Society. Other performances include restaurant venues, the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, Edmonton, Alberta Canada and TPC Valencia (Tournament Players Club) and Las Vegas.

Raised on Elvis since childhood, Danny Memphis truly captures the look, essence, dance moves and natural vocal style in a tasteful, heartfelt, true to the man celebration of the young Elvis and his music from the 50's 60's and 70's eras. Danny performs solo or with his own band, The Extraordinaires, featuring world class musicians and vocalists that have over a lifetime of combined experience.

WHY I ❤️ PALMS THAI SO MUCH
Thai cuisine is my ultimate overall favorite. I’ve had better Thai food in California than my repeated visits throughout Thailand. For the past 30+ years there’s no other restaurant I have frequented more in LA than Palms Thai. I’ve tried numerous other fantastic Thai restaurants in Thai Town (Eastern Hollywood), and countless well known popular others like famed Jitlada, Luv2Eat Thai Bistro, Anajak Thai, Natalee Thai, and the popular Wat Thai Food Court just to name a few. But I always find myself coming back to Palms Thai for good reason.

How I discovered Palms Thai:
Back in the late 1990’s I asked a Thai co-worker friend for her Thai restaurant “Top Picks”. Over time I tried every single one on her list including a few in Hawaii. My fave go-to was Palms Thai. And still is to this very day!! When she gave me her list the first thing she asked me was if I liked Elvis. I thought what an odd question to ask me when we were discussing Thai food. I soon found out why PALMS THAI WAS HER TOP RECOMMENDATION. WHO DOESN’T LOVE ELVIS?

THE EARLY YEARS OF PALM THAI- est 1997
I started going about a year after they first opened in Thai Town in a strip mall about 3/4 mile down the street from where they are currently located now at the corner of Bronson Ave & Hollywood Blvd. Over the years with Thai Elvis as their resident singer they soon outgrew their small original location. People were lined up blocking traffic in the strip mall parking lot. I often saw several police officers in uniform dining there too getting cuts in line to enter so they could hear Thai Elvis sing while they dined.

Up until 2024 when they changed ownership there was no other Thai restaurant in LA with lunch specials 7-days a week until 5 PM. A huge reason for me to love them even more. Lunch is my big meal which I enjoy very late in the day. The portions were HUGE and super inexpensive. Another HUGE draw was being entertained by Thai Elvis. Like thousands of others I became a HUGE fan. He was REALLY great!!

Since 2011 Palms Thai has had numerous other regular performers. Mostly jazz singers. Recently, I found out the new owners contracted Danny Memphis who I love and have been following for sometime. I’M SUPER EXCITED AN “ELVIS” IMPERSONATOR IS BACK!! WHO DOESN’T LOVE ELVIS & THAI FOOD? DANNY MEMPHIS IS NOW “SHAKING” THINGS UP AGAIN AT PALMS THAI!!

DINING ATMOSPHERE
Palms Thai is a very large, bustling, and casual room with bright lighting, cafeteria-style long rows of tables and traditional decor. Don’t expect a fancy colorful space. You’re here for great Thai food and a fantastic F R E E show!!! You’ll be so happy you came! It’s such a FABULOUS inexpensive time!!

NEW MENU (new ownership since 2024)

Wild Things Menu: Features unique and exotic game options like deer, frog, and wild boar.

Palms Thai has a huge menu and serves all the dishes you would expect; Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Koa Soi, curries, stir fry, and many more dishes from across Thailand to enjoy. Also, now serving authentic Italian Gelato!
