Join me for a night under the dome at Melbourne Planetarium, where Scienceworks reopens after hours for an adults-only fulldome screening.

The 7:30pm session pairs What's in the Sky Tonight – a live, presenter-led tour of the current night sky – with Unseen Earth: Observe, Understand, Respond, a 28-minute fulldome film about how Earth observation reveals the hidden workings of our own planet. It's a lovely way to spend a Friday evening: reclined seats, a full dome overhead, and someone who really knows the sky pointing out what's up there right now.

We'll meet outside the Planetarium gates at 7:00pm for a quick hello, head inside around 7:10pm, and take our seats before the 7:30pm start. The whole thing wraps up around 8:30pm.

A couple of important things: this is a casual social meetup so we can go along together – it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Scienceworks or Museums Victoria. You'll need to book your own ticket directly with them, and an RSVP here doesn't include entry. Scienceworks also notes that late entry into the Planetarium is not permitted, so please don't cut it fine.

Who this is for

Anyone curious about space, astronomy, or Earth science – no background knowledge needed
People who'd enjoy a relaxed, low-key evening rather than a loud night out
This is an 18+ event, so please note it's adults only
Coming on your own? Absolutely welcome – plenty of people do, and it's easy to say hello before we head in

Important notes

This is a casual social meetup arranged so we can attend together. It isn't organised by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Scienceworks or Museums Victoria.
An RSVP here is not a ticket and doesn't guarantee entry – please book your own ticket directly.
Scienceworks says late entry into the Planetarium is not permitted, and asks that you arrive at the show entry 15 minutes before the start time. Please aim to be at the meeting point by 7:00pm so we're all seated in good time.
This is an 18+ event.
Please follow all venue rules and staff instructions on the night, and look after yourself getting to and from the venue.
If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear for everyone.
