Ian will introduce the principles of Self Illusion Therapy, drawing on the wisdom of Buddhism, Hinduism, Theosophy and the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti. The lecture will explore both the philosophical foundations of this approach and insights from contemporary cognitive science. Practical exercises will offer an opportunity to experience how we can step back from the false selves within the mind and discover a deeper connection with the True Self. Dr Ian Ellis-Jones is a lawyer, academic, minister of religion and counsellor with tertiary qualifications in law, psychology, management and religion. He lectured in law at the University of Technology Sydney for 16 years and taught mental health workers at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry for almost 14 years. Ian has also lectured and conducted courses and workshops in religion, psychology, philosophy, self-development and the performing arts across a range of educational and vocational settings. His interests include the mystery religions, the inner meaning of myths, legends and fairy tales, New Thought, spiritual psychology, mindfulness and the performing arts, and he is the author or co-author of several books.
