Take a Walk on the Wild Side! LSP to Port Liberte Loop (~13 miles)

Take the Great Saunter Fall Challenge. Register here to walk 32 miles over 16 days, starting Oct. 3. Help Shorewalkers support our parks by donating $10 to participate, with all fees going to Riverside Park Conservancy. This walk will count for 13 miles of your total. Walk on the wild side of the Hudson, meandering through Liberty State Park's waterfront with gorgeous views of NYC, Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty, visit the CRRNJ Museum, the Nature Interpretive Center, Caven Point Preserve (which is ONLY open Oct 1 - Feb 28 each year) and further on to Port Liberte, returning back via downtown Jersey City to explore its vibrant street art and cafe scene. Optional visit to Departed Soles Brewery at the end. IMPORTANT NOTES - PLEASE READ SO YOU ARE PREPARED: We will assemble at the Paulus Hook Ferry Terminal in Jersey City (see details in Location link) where there are nice restrooms. You can arrive via NYWaterways ferry & here is a link to schedules OR you can take the Path train to Exchange Place, a 5 minute walk south along the waterfront to our starting point. Please check schedules to make sure you arrive on time. We will begin walk PROMPTLY at 10:45a so plan your travel to start point accordingly. Route is flat with a combination of city streets, boardwalk and some dirt paths and pace will be moderate (3 mph) There are limited drop out points once in the park and I can point out where once we are underway. We will break for lunch at the picnic grounds south end of the park ~mile 6, noting there is no place to buy food or water in the park, so please bring your own. Rest rooms are limited to those at start of the walk & within the park Bring lunch, a water bottles (there are fountains to fill up in the park), hat & insert repellent. Return back will be from the Grove Street Path station with routing to both World Trade Center AND 33rd Street. On day of walk, I will ONLY be accessible via TEXT at 917-847-9014.
