Bangkok is home to people from many different countries, and we’d love to create a welcoming space where anyone can come together to share, learn, and appreciate each other's cultures and traditions that make our world so beautifully diverse.
What Is It About?
After Halloween, we’re coming together to honor Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a vibrant and heartwarming Mexican tradition dedicated to remembering and celebrating loved ones who have passed on. In this workshop, we'll learn about the symbolism behind this holiday through crafting colorful tissue paper art inspired by their beautiful traditions.
☞ Did You Know? ☜
Día de los Muertos is not a spooky occasion, but a joyful and deeply meaningful family celebration of life, memory, and connection! Rooted in Indigenous traditions and shaped by centuries of cultural exchange, it is a time to honor deceased loved ones and welcome their spirits back to visit the living. Bright orange cempasúchil (marigolds) are believed to help guide spirits back with their vibrant color and scent, while delicate papel picado (cut paper banners) symbolize the wind and the lightness of life.
What To Expect
💞 Community Remembrance: Feel free to share memories of your loved ones or simply honor them in your heart during our workshop.
🔖 Paper Crafting: Learn how to create traditional paper cempasúchil or papel picado to add to our community banner or to take home as a gift from us. For those interested in papel picado, scissors will be available in limited quantities so please bring your own pair!
Who Is It For?
✧ Anyone from this cultural heritage who would like to share their traditions with others
✧ Anyone interested in learning about Mexican culture and Día de los Muertos traditions through a hands-on workshop

This is a free community event. Materials are provided as a gift from the organizer to create an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome. Optional contributions to help us maintain our community are always welcomed and appreciated 🌍💙
