Context and Other Bottlenecks in the Age of AI: The Case for Internal Developer Portals The next Meetup is planned for Thursday, September 17th at 5PM. Our speaker is Julio Villalta. Event Summary AI agents made writing code cheap. They did not make it cheap to know which of your 400 services to change, who gets paged when it breaks, or what depends on it. That context lives in people's heads and in stale wiki pages, where no agent can query it and new hires can't find it either. Internal developer portals have become a requirement for agent and human audiences alike, not a developer experience nicety. Using Backstage and Git, we'll cover cataloging services and ownership, docs-as-code with TechDocs, and exposing that catalog to agents via MCP so they know who owns what before opening a PR.
