Local Walk: Enville & Highgate Common

A slightly different route in a previously enjoyed area, on and around the Staffordshire Way from the wooded expanse of Highgate Common to the picturesque 'ale' village of Enville and back.

Logistics:
Meet: 10:15 check-in, to start within 5-10 minutes, or earlier if all visible are ready.
Distance: 8 to 8.5 miles, due to reduced daylight
Start Point: Highgate Common Car Park, Whitehouse Lane, DY3 4PE
GPS: W3W=outline.mysteries.marginal or GridRef=SO843900
Parking: Either at the above car park accessed on the right at a right hand bend just after passing Whitehouse Farm. Or just past it, there is also Birches Coppice car park on the left, which is under 5 mins walk away.
Directions: If going through Swindon Village (as most of us will) and passing The Green Man pub on your right, you must turn/fork right onto Whitehouse Rd after 500 metres rather than continue left onto Chasepool Rd. Limited phone signal in the area, so prepare your route well please.
Terrain: Commons, Woodland and Open countryside mainly.
Refreshments: Bring fluids & picnic lunch, and also an excellent pub stop mid-way at The Cat Inn, Enville.

RoadMap: Streetmap.co.uk - Map of 384323,290089

GroundView: Turn Right Here: White House Ln - Google Maps

Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s & dogs (behaved, under control) may attend as guests.
Emergency Contact: 078.13.73.76.23 though not available while driving or for routine lateness problems. Today's walk/route leader is Paul W

Safety:
As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.

RSVP Commitment:
Places are not unlimited, so withdrawing in the last 24 hours is not allowed. Attendances shouldn't be compromised by ghosting (no-shows, late withdrawals, and uncommitted waitlisting) so reliable attendees will take priority at future events.
