International Foodies: Nepalese Social Dinner at Momo House

Join us for a Himalayan food night at Momo House, a popular, highly rated Nepalese restaurant in Houston that serves authentic Himalayan comfort food. Three friends from the Himalayan high country opened the restaurant because they missed traditional food from home. The main owner started as a home cook before turning her popular recipes into a full-time neighborhood favorite. Situated in Houston’s diverse Gulfton area, it adds a unique flavor to the local cuisine.

Expect dishes like buffalo jhol momos (dumplings), chicken thukpa (a rich noodle soup), goat sukuwa (grilled goat with puffed rice), and chicken aloo jimbu flavored with smoky Himalayan herb. Also on the menu are street snacks such as crunchy chatpate (puffed rice with tangy spices) and spicy sautéed potatoes called piro aloo.

How dinner will work:
We’ll order a variety of dishes for the table and share family-style so everyone can try a range of dishes.

Estimated cost:
We will probably spend around $30 per person including tax and tip, depending on what we order. Please bring cash or have Zelle available in case we need to split the bill among the group.

All alcohol purchases and specialty drinks will be put on a personal tab.
