Valley Forge National Park hike. Approx 8 miles through the woods and meadows of the park. Moderate pace. Hopefully lots of fall foliage. We'll start at the visitor center lower parking lot. Hike through the meadow to the Chapel Trail. We'll follow the Chapel Trail west to Washington's Headquarters where we will pick up the Mt. Joy Trail. After hiking over Mt. Joy we'll follow the Baptist Trace through Artillery Park to the Varnum Picnic Area where we'll stop for lunch. After lunch we'll loop through the meadow to the Washington Memorial Chapel where we will pick up the Chapel Trail and head east back to the visitor center. Elevation gain will be a couple of hundred feet. Nothing too extreme.
We'll meet at the picnic tables to the right of the restroom building in the lower parking lot. Restrooms at the start and various spots along the hike. Wear sturdy shoes, bring lunch and snacks. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in so we can leave on time. Leader: Henry Matznick 609-868-8714.
