We are heading to see the Abington Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as they perform the highly anticipated world premiere of the orchestral version of Northland by acclaimed composer Kile Smith.
This moving 14-minute song cycle brings to life the brilliant poetry of Claude McKay, a key figure of the Harlem Renaissance. The music masterfully blends classical textures with jazz and blues inflections to explore the emotional landscape of the immigrant experience—balancing nostalgia, heartache, and ultimate hope
