Persian Mythology— London Mithraeum Guided Tour honouring Mithras (Mehr) 🌞

✦ Unlock the Secrets of the Magi ✦ We’ll delve into Persian mythology, astrology, secret sects, and esoteric traditions, tracing connections across the Persianate world through Zoroastrian ancestral traditions in the Roman Empire , while also opening a dialogue with neighboring cosmologies, including Hellenic, Vedic, and Sino traditions. How did different cultures understand the stars, the elements, fate, the soul, and humanity’s relationship to the cosmos? Where do their myths converge—and where do they profoundly differ? How did a fringe Persian sect make its way to the highest echelons of the Roman Empire and here in London as secret mystery cult/ society? Following extensive German bombing in parts of the City of London during World War II, excavation work exposed an ancient Mithras Temple (Mithraeum) beneath the modern city which we will visit. Guest speaker from Oxford University will guide us through the labyrinth. Our exploration will move beyond conversation: astrology, myth, ritual, and movement will become ways of experiencing these traditions through both mind and body.
