AWS Launchpad @ Macquarie: Start Building in the Cloud

New to cloud computing or AWS? This event is designed for you. Join us for the inaugural event of the AWS Student Builder Group at Macquarie University in collaboration with Macquarie Technology Society; an interactive introduction to cloud computing, Amazon Web Services, and the learning opportunities available to students through the AWS ecosystem. Whether you have never used AWS before or already have some experience with cloud technologies, this session will give you a practical starting point and show you where you can go next. What you'll learn What cloud computing is and why it is used across modern technology and industry How some of the fundamental building blocks of AWS work together How a simple cloud architecture can be designed for a real world scenario How to get started with AWS Builder Center and AWS Skill Builder Where to access free AWS learning resources including Builder Labs, SimuLearn and Cloud Quest How to continue learning through future AWS Student Builder Group workshops and events What to expect This will be an interactive, beginner friendly session rather than a traditional lecture. We'll have: An introduction to the AWS Student Builder Group at Macquarie University An interactive introduction to cloud and AWS fundamentals A simple team based cloud architecture challenge A live walkthrough of AWS learning resources An AWS Builder Center onboarding moment Q&A and opportunities to meet other students interested in cloud, AI and technology A preview of what we're planning for future AWS SBG events Who should attend? All Macquarie University students are welcome. You do not need to be studying computing, engineering or IT, and no previous AWS or cloud experience is required. What to bring A laptop is recommended, but not essential. Please bring your phone so you can access event resources and QR codes. We will also help attendees connect with AWS Builder Center during the session. Come along, meet the community and take your first steps into building with AWS.
