Local Walk: Penkridge & Teddesley Park

An intriguing and peaceful off-road route in South Staffordshire, starting from Penkridge village, and meandering across local countryside and parkland. This is a new variant of a route from the same start point from a few years ago.

Logistics:
Meet: 10:20 check-in, to start within 10 mins, or earlier if all visible are ready.
Distance: Around 8.5 miles
Start Point: At the canal bridge, outside The Boat Inn, Cannock Road, Penkridge, ST19 5SF (which is 0.5 miles from Penkridge Train Station).
Parking: Anywhere in the village, please spread parking, not to cause problems for local people. There is no parking at the start point, but plenty nearby either roadside or in carparks (e.g. Market Street, CoOp, Station) so allow time for then getting to the start point.
Terrain: Mix of woodland, towpath, pleasant countryside, using a stretch of The Staffordshire Way and passing Teddesley Hall's remains.
Refreshments: Bring fluids & picnic lunch, and also a pub stop at the end.

Map: Streetmap.co.uk - Map of 392840,314040
Satellite: Cannock Rd - Google Maps

Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s & dogs (behaved, under control) may attend as guests.
Emergency Contact: 078.137.37.623, though not available for travel advice or routine lateness problems. Today's walk leader is Paul W.

Safety:
As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.

RSVP Commitment:
Places are not unlimited, so withdrawing in the last 24 hours is impolite. Attendances shouldn't be compromised by ghosting (no-shows, late withdrawals).
