Kia ora! 🧡
This Halloween, we’re going to start something different. We’re leaning into horror, not for scares, but for story.
Join us for a free community screening of Night of the Living Dead (1968), a groundbreaking film that quietly changed the landscape of BIPOC representation on screen.
🎥 When: Wednesday 7th October. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., film starts at 7:30 p.m.
📍Where: Pioneer Women’s Hall (upstairs), Ellen Melville Centre, Tāmaki Makaurau
🎟️ FREE ENTRY. All are welcome 🤗
This film is R16 (90 minutes), so it's best for older teens + adults.
We’ll have some free snacks + juice, and you’re welcome to bring a cushion, whether to claim your spot, make the chairs comfier, or just feel at home.
We‘ll have a selection of BIPOC-made goods from the shop on hand. Perfect for gifts or just treating yourself.
This is the first two of October screenings, part of a series exploring how BIPOC experience horror, not just as fear, but as history, survival, and truth-telling. The next? Mārama, but more on that soon.
See you there. 🩸🕯️
