🥾 Begbroke & Bladon Countryside Walk

Join us this week for a peaceful circular walk through the Oxfordshire countryside, starting in Begbroke and heading through to the lovely village of Bladon.

We’ll follow a mixture of field paths, woodland tracks and quiet country roads, with mostly flat terrain. Along the way, we’ll pass St Martin’s Church in Bladon, whose churchyard is the final resting place of Sir Winston Churchill.

The walk is a lovely mix of open countryside, fields and woodland, with a few stiles along the way. There may be livestock in some of the fields, so please wear suitable footwear and be prepared for muddy or uneven sections depending on the weather.

📍 Meeting point: The Royal Sun, 2 Woodstock Rd, Begbroke, Kidlington OX5 1RZ

⚠️ Please meet at the FRONT of the pub, NOT in the car park. There are plenty of parking spaces, but we'll meet at the front of the pub before setting off.

🕐 Start time: 1:30pm — please arrive a few minutes early so we can set off promptly.

🥾 Distance: 9 km

⏱️ Walking time: approximately 2½ hours

🍺 Pub stop: approximately 1 hour, halfway through the walk

⏰ Expected finish: around 5:00pm

🍺 Halfway break: We'll stop at The White House in Bladon for around an hour, giving everyone a chance to have a drink, relax and chat before continuing the walk.

The route is mostly flat, but there are several stiles to cross and some sections may be muddy or overgrown depending on the weather.

Please bring: water, suitable walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Long trousers are recommended as some paths can be overgrown.

As always, new members are very welcome — come along on your own or with friends. It's a friendly group and a great way to meet people while getting out into the countryside. 😊

Looking forward to seeing you there! 🌿🥾
