Hello, ocean lovers! 🌊
What does the ocean have to do with art? Well, isn’t the ocean a work of art in itself? And wouldn’t it be magnificent to get up close to it so we can see it, hear it, feel it?
Absolutely! But, since a trip to the nearest ocean isn’t exactly a quick afternoon outing, what can we do instead? I’ve got you covered 😉
🥁London Art Lovers is here to transport your imagination to the Pacific, through a fascinating exhibition, Pasifika Now, a striking photographic display showcasing the work of young artists from across the Pacific and its diaspora. Through powerful portraits and intimate glimpses of everyday life, their images explore identity, community and contemporary Pasifika experiences, offering fresh perspectives on a region too often seen through a historical lens.
And there’s more to discover beyond the exhibition itself! The gallery is filled with fascinating artefacts, history about pirates and objects that bring the Pacific’s rich cultures and the complex history of European exploration and colonisation to life 🏴☠️⚓️
So, ready to set sail with us? 🌊✨
🎫 Admission is free but a ticket booking is recommended.
Please book here for 2.30pm this Saturday 17 October.
More info on the Pacific Encounters gallery here.
More info on the Pasifika Now exhibit here.
We will take about 1 hour to explore the exhibit then go for coffee/drinks somewhere nearby.
Everyone welcome 🙂
Important to note:
1. We typically socialise at cafés after the exhibit, nice, independent ones, not chains and not at pubs. If the event is late on a Saturday we go to a nice bar/pub for drinks after. This meetup is inclusive and everyone is welcome to join.
1. If you get there before everyone and you’re not sure what to do or where we are, post a comment on here and I will let you know our whereabouts.
1. Once we go in we may separate, feel free to explore the exhibit by yourself, we don’t have to be together. Some people like chatting to others while exploring and other people prefer to be with their own thoughts. You are welcome to express yourself and do whatever feels comfortable.
1. If you are late or if you’ve booked for an earlier or later time don’t worry just go in and you’ll find us inside. Keep an eye on the comments as I’ll be posting updates.
