FEMA-Recommended Emergency Items:
1. Flashlight/Headlamp: For navigating without electricity
2. Whistle: To signal for help if stranded
3. Dust Mask: To protect against contaminated air
4. Physical Maps: Non-digital navigation tools
5. Manual Can Opener: Essential for accessing stockpiled canned food
6. Games/Entertainment: To occupy both children and adults during an emergency
7. Medical Kit: A foundational requirement for treating injuries
8. Pet Supplies: Provisions like food, hygiene items, and medications for pets
9. Wrench or Pliers: Basic tools for minor repairs
10. Communication Radio: A solar or battery-powered radio for receiving weather updates and emergency broadcasts
11. I would also add water, food that is preservable, a battery brick for phones, and some way of warming food (camp stove, etc. ), and a few days supplies of medications. I also have a solar-powered flashlight, with a USB port to charge my cell phone, and a "get the hell out of the house" backpack next to the front door.
Other suggestions?
What do you have, and what do you need?
How well do you know your neighbors?
One option is for all of you to come to my house, thinking David is prepared.
