Let's go see Ebenezer at AMC Saratoga in San Jose

A Christmas Carol is probably the most famous ghost story in our culture and has been in public domain since the turn of the last century. Is it really surprising that another movie version is being produced? This one, Ebenezer, stars Johnny Depp as Scrooge, with a cast that includes Ian McKellen and Rupert Grint. We’ll go see this ghost story at the AMC Saratoga, which has a haunting reputation of its own. According to The Shadowlands website, “Poltergeist/Presence very strong in this 14 screen multiplex. House lights flicker on & off, muffled laughter/whispers, also arm rests lower & raise themselves up of their accord, especially in theatre 5. Also Workers report in the projection booth a shadowy figure can be glimpsed, & lurks around projector number 5.”

The Shadowlands had posted this activity long before the previous El Paseo de Saratoga complex had been demolished and rebuilt, so it left me wondering if the website’s story had been updated since the theatre was rebuilt. However, tearing down a building does not make intelligent spirits go away. They’re more likely to hang out at places that give them joy and they can be movie fans too. Paranormal activity at the complex was confirmed by a BAGH member who had worked there at a previous meetup. Lots of stories still surround this complex. Our resident ghost whisperer, Madeleine Harmath, will be joining us, so who knows what she’ll see?
