Bamford Edge and Derwent Moorlands

11 miles Come and join us for this classic walk on moorland, paths and some quiet roads. The end of summer brings the changing colours to the peak district, with beautiful scenes on the high moors and escarpments around Bamford Starting in Bamford car park, near to the train station. From Bamford village centre we take the track northeast and climb up towards the Bole Hill road. After a few metres we head left and up towards Great Tor on Bamford Edge. We follow the edge north until the path splits. We continue on to Jarvis Clough and then follow the track to Cutthroat Bridge. Over the road and just down the hill slightly is the beginning of a bridleway into Highshaw Clough. We continue onto the path towards Moscar House, then head south towards Stanage. We follow the path south along Stanage Edge to High Neb, then drop down through the plantation towards the road. We head east on the road and almost immediately right (south) on a path towards Bronte Cottage. We follow the path beside the stream to the road, Brookfield Manor and then Hathersage. From Hathersage we head to a bridge over the River Derwent. Cross the bridge and take the footpath right, then follow this and the river back upstream to Bamford. The Disclaimer! Our leaders/event hosts are volunteers, they're there to guide groups on walks in the countryside, they're not responsible for each and every participant other than themselves. It is expected that all participants to be fully responsible for themselves and their own safety, we do not employ first aiders or qualified walk leaders. Participants are also expected to attend every walk with suitable clothing, footwear and any other equipment, that includes waterproofs for wet weather and walking poles if you need them regularly. Enough food and drink for the day is also required.
