BCLC has adopted St. Mary’s Road between Old School Road and IL Route 176, a distance of 1.2 miles. The Lake County Department of Transportation has posted signs at each end of our section of St. Mary’s Road. In return for this publicity, we agree to do a roadside pickup of trash and debris twice a year. This also provides us a chance to “make a difference” and gives us an opportunity to work together to build co-operation and comradeship.
Meet at Old School Forest Preserve, St. Mary’s Road
Shelter A&B parking lot (the first one to the right of entrance)
Bring leather palm gloves, hiking or work boots (No tennis shoes), long pants, Long-sleeved shirt or jacket, sun screen, eye protection, water bottle
We will furnish coffee and donuts to get everyone started.
Each worker will get a very stylish fluorescent vest and garbage bag.
Please plan to arrive by 9:45 a.m. This should give you enough time to grab a donut and do some stretching before we start. This is also a great chance for those with families to include them. The county requires that any volunteer be at least 10 years old and that we have one supervisor for every five children.
Post cleanup trail ride for a late lunch. About 20 miles at a “C” pace (social).
