A brief description of the walks is given below, but more details will be given on the coach to enable you to make your choice. If you have a query on any aspect of this coach trip or need more information please message me. 'A' Walk - Yorkshire Bridge to Castleton Leader - James This walk is approximately 13 miles long, with some 2800 feet of ascent. The walk initially climbs steeply to the summit of Win Hill, and continues along the ridge onto the edge of Kinder Scout with hopefully some excellent views of Edale and the Mam Tor ridge. The route then drops down into Edale, itself, and is followed by an ascent of Mam Tor. The final descent into Castleton is via the impressive limestone gorge of Winnats Pass. "B" Walk -CASTLETON CIRCULAR APPROX 9/10 miles Leader:John From the coach park we follow the village stream to the village green & old market place where markets were taking place in the 13th century. The entrance to Cavedale is between houses & this is followed gradually uphill, narrow at first & then opens up & becomes the Limestone Way. At the top the way ahead can be seen, as we head towards the ascent of Mam Tor which is a quite steep but short ascent to the marker on the summit with excellent views all round. The ridge path can be seen which we follow past Hollin Cross & on towards Lose Hill, from there it is a gradual descent on field paths passing the youth hostel & back to the start. A number of ascents & descents throughout with some lovely views over this part of the Peak District. "C" Walk - Details to follow "D" Walk - Hope Circular\, About 5 miles Leader: Roger Mobile: 07796 230137 From Castleton we take the track to Hope which follows Peakshole Water, then over fields and across the railway to meet the lane leading into Hope. We pass the restored pinfold before reaching Hope village (public toilets). After lunch in the churchyard we cross to the other side of the valley and return to Castleton passing Spring House Farm and Losehill Hall youth hostel on the way. Good views of the surrounding hills. Low level paths, one gentle climb Quite a few stiles, including 5 step stiles (not high ones) Those who have walked with us before should note that from 1st January 2022 we brought our conditions into line with those of the parent club, Leeds CHA Rambling and Social Club, where newcomers can attend their first three walks free of charge to see if the group is suitable for them, but if they wish to continue we ask them to join the club and pay the annual subscription (only £6 a year!). Only a small selection of our walks are posted on the Meetup site but paid up club members have access to our full programme which includes one or two walks each Saturday, and a choice of up to three walks on Sundays (including up to four coach trips a year so you can relax and chat on the journey without having to drive). Also we normally arrange one or two walking weekends away each year so there is something to suit everyone.
