Why Do Humans Search for the Meaning of Life?

Why do humans feel the need to find meaning in life? What makes our existence meaningful, and do we really need a purpose to feel fulfilled?

This event is a sort of philosophical counterpart to our previous discussion, "Why Are We Fascinated by Death? The Dark Side of Human Curiosity". While that event explored our fascination with death, mortality, and the darker side of human existence, this time we'll turn our attention to life itself: its meaning, purpose, possibilities, and mysteries.

However, these are two completely independent events. You don't need to have attended the previous discussion to join this one. They explore different subjects, and each event can be enjoyed on its own!

We'll explore philosophical, existential, and even spiritual perspectives on life. From the search for happiness and personal fulfilment to the role of beliefs, relationships, experiences, and the idea of having a purpose, we'll discuss what makes life meaningful to us.

There are no right or wrong answers, and you don't need to be an expert in philosophy or spirituality. Whether you're a deep thinker, a curious skeptic, or someone who enjoys questioning the big things in life, you're welcome to join!

Stay on topic: Please keep the conversation focused on the meaning of life, human existence, purpose, and related questions. Everyone should have the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
Respect different perspectives: We may have very different beliefs and opinions. Please listen to others without judgment, and approach the conversation with an open mind.
Be open-minded: You don't have to agree with everyone, but try to understand different viewpoints and be willing to question your own assumptions.
Community update: In the future, this group may move from Meetup to Luma. I'll share more information if and when that happens.

I've only booked a table for 8 people, so unfortunately, I can't guarantee that everyone on the waiting list will be able to join. Meetup automatically moves the first person on the waiting list into the event when someone cancels, so please keep an eye on your RSVP status. Please only attend if your RSVP is confirmed. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee you a spot, even if someone doesn't show up. I won't be able to accommodate additional people without a confirmed reservation.
