Jim Thorpe Weekend/Bike Train

Join members and friends for a weekend of bicycle riding in Jim Thorpe.
Check into the hotel on Friday, November 13th.
On Saturday check in at train station at 8am for the 9:15 am train to White Haven.
Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway Bike Train Rail Trail Ride:
1 Susquehanna Street, Jim Thorpe, PA.
They start to load bikes at 8:00am; train departs promptly at 9:15am. Bring a packed lunch.
We will plan to stop for lunch along the trail at one of the picnic spots. We will ride the historic train up through the Gorge with our bikes, about one hour, to White Haven. Then we will ride the crushed stone rail trail back along the Scenic Lehigh Gorge to Jim Thorpe. You must purchase your train ticket in advance, $39. Please note that there are no refunds on tickets if the ride is cancelled or if, due to inclement weather, the train does not run that day. However, bike train tickets do not expire and can be used another day. There is no free parking in Jim Thorpe, $10/day (cash only)per vehicle to park in municipal lot, where the train station is located, at 1 Susquehanna Street, Jim Thorpe, PA.
Your $39 ticket is for those who are bringing your own bike. These tickets are limited. It cost double to rent one of their bikes. You must make your decision and buy a ticket two months in advance. Helmets are mandatory for all of our rides. Parking lot has an attendant and is patrolled.

On Sunday morning we will check out of the hotel and at 9am we will meet in Jim Thorpe at the trailhead , Packer Hill Road, for the Switchback trail, biking 9 miles to Summit Hill and back. This is a gravel trail. Afterwards… those who want to go out to lunch together before traveling home.
