Welcome to the autumn t12t meetup hosted at Nexer in Gothenburg! We’re thrilled to bring our community together for an evening dedicated to accessibility, inclusion, and hands-on discussions.
Below you’ll find all the essential information about tonight's agenda, food, accessibility, and event guidelines.
Tonight's agenda
We'll be doing lightning talks, around 15 minutes by each speaker.
Designing for people, not just requirements
Hanna Karppi - Head of Digital Inclusion, Nexer
How do we make accessibility and inclusion part of the way we work? We’ll share how we approach accessibility and why it matters beyond simply meeting requirement and compliance.
The disability tax: What inaccessible design costs disabled people
Tanzila Khan - Disability rights activist and accessibility auditor
Does investing in accessibility pay off for society? This talk explores the hidden costs of inaccessible design for disabled people — in money, time, and energy — and the wider impact on the people, services, and systems around them.
Tanzila has also created a board game (Woopie Town) about experiences of people with disabilities. She will bring a few copies to try out during the mingle.
Accessibility Monitoring in Sweden: What Can We Learn from PTS Enforcement?
Erik Gustafsson Spagnoli - Accessibility specialist (CPWA), Axess Lab.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is no longer just a set of requirements on paper - enforcement is underway in Sweden. Reports and decisions from the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) offer valuable insights into what compliance means in practice.
What patterns are emerging? Are there surprising findings or interpretations worth challenging? And how much time do organisations have to fix issues once PTS comes knocking?
Food:
We will be serving wraps and drinks. The wraps will be available in vegan, vegetarian and meat options. If you have any preferences when it comes to food or drinks let us know minimum a week before!
Email [email protected] (or DM in meetup or on the t12t slack).
Accessibility:
All speakers will use a microphone. We are aware that accessibility issues are diverse and there might be a problem that we are not aware of. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Eva-Lena at [email protected] (or DM in meetup or on the t12t slack).
Photography:
It's ok to take photos of our speakers and the things we and they present on stage. But please ask before taking photos of other attendees.
Safety and inclusion:
We have a Code of Conduct that we expect everyone to follow.
Video:
We will not record this event, presentations will only be available in person.
Svenska:
Alla dragningar på scen kommer att vara på engelska. Om du känner dig obekväm med engelska så är du självklart välkommen ändå!
Det kommer att finnas gott om människor att prata svenska med.
