We will make our way through Horsford along quiet lanes and footpaths, with our first break at All Saints’ Church. We will then continue through Newton St. Faith and on to Horsham St. Faith, where we will stop for lunch at St. Mary’s and St. Andrew’s Church. The church’s rood screen and pulpit are particularly noteworthy, with their surviving painted panels offering a fascinating glimpse into the religious art and craftsmanship of the period. After lunch, we will pass “The Clink”, a Grade II listed 18th-century village lock-up built into the precinct wall of the ancient priory. We will then continue past our delightful post-walk drink stop, better known as The Black Swan. The final part of the walk takes us back through Newton St. Faith, returning to Horsford via St. Helena Mill, a five-storey red-brick corn mill, before bringing us back to the start. Please note there are public toilets at the Horsford Village Hall car park, which are adjacent to the children's play area and the Baby Bean Coffee kiosk. There are also toilets and opportunities to refill water bottles at both church stops. We look forward to welcoming you on what promises to be an enjoyable walk through some lovely Norfolk villages. Approximate Breaks: Please bring your own packed lunch and snacks as required, and plenty of water/drinks to stay hydrated throughout the walk. 3 miles - 15 minute drink/snack break 7.5 miles - 30 minutes lunch break Walk specific health and safety: There are stiles and sheep on this route, and some road crossings as well as some brief walking along pavements. If you wish to use the facilities, please let the back marker know and they will ensure you don't get left behind and allow you to catch up with the group. If there is an injury or problem during a walk Please let one of the walk leaders or back marker know asap. Do not try to deal with it by yourself. What to do when walking past live stock Try to be as quiet as possible and do not make loud or sudden movements. Always follow the instructions given by the walk leader. What if I am struggling on a walk? It is very important that we stay together as a group so please do not allow gaps to form and stay close to the person in front. If the person in front is slowing up and a gap starts forming then please pass them and catch up. If you are struggling for whatever reason please let the nearest leader near you know or let the back marker know asap so that we can help. Never leave the walk without letting a leader know. Questions If you have any questions please either message the event host directly (usually the quickest way to get a response), or comment in the event description (2nd quickest), or send an email to [email protected].
