Language, Truth, and Logic - Battersea Walk

This time we will be strolling around beautiful Battersea and discussing the radical book Language, Truth and Logic by A.J. Ayer. Language, Truth and Logic brought the ideas of the Vienna Circle and logical empiricism (also known as logical positivism) to a wider, English speaking, audience. In it Ayer outlines the verification principle, rejects metaphysics and expouses the emotivist view of ethics. We will meet at 11am on the north side (river side) of Battersea Power Station next to Circus Road North by the grassy area with deck chairs. Nearest tube station: Battersea Power Station. You don't have to read the book to attend (although if you attempt the introduction you will get something out of it). There will be some printed handouts with quotes; I will attempt to find quotes from the book that are easy to understand.
