Dublin Debaters Is Back

Dublin Debaters is back. We are kicking off the new term in style with a workshop on how to prepare We’ll cover everything from researching your topic and organising your points to anticipating counterarguments and preparing with confidence. Whether you’re completely new to debating or just looking to sharpen your skills, this is a friendly space to learn, practice and ask questions. Dublin Debaters is a welcoming space for anyone who wants to learn how to argue, communicate and think more confidently. Whether you’ve debated before or have never spoken in front of a group, everyone is welcome. We come together to discuss interesting topics, hear different perspectives and, most importantly, have fun while developing skills that are useful far beyond the debating room. One of the biggest things you’ll learn at Dublin Debaters is how to structure and format an argument. Debating teaches you how to take an idea, break it down into clear points, provide strong reasoning and explain your position in a way that others can understand. Over time, you become much better at organising your thoughts and making your arguments clear, convincing and easy to follow. And then there’s public speaking one of the most valuable skills you can develop. Speaking in front of others can feel intimidating at first, but debating gives you a supportive environment to practice at your own pace. With every speech, you become more comfortable expressing yourself, thinking on your feet and speaking with confidence. You don’t need to be naturally outgoing or confident to join; that confidence is something you can build along the way. Most importantly, Dublin Debaters is about people. It’s a chance to meet others, exchange ideas, challenge yourself and become part of a friendly community. You don’t have to be an expert, have perfect arguments or know exactly what you’re doing just bring your curiosity and willingness to give it a go.
