Marin Headlands (9.5mi, 1,950ft)

Hikers only, no dogs. DESCRIPTION: This hike is a "greatest hits" of the Marin Headlands, located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. We will see incredible close-up views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Battery Spencer overlook. We will continue to more views of San Francisco and the Pacific from Hawk Hill/Battery 129. Lunch will be on Black Sands Beach with a view of the City. After lunch we'll continue on to Slacker Hill, with stunning panoramic views of San Francisco, the Bay and Pacific Ocean. This is all assuming no fog, hopefully we'll enjoy a clear day. DISTANCE: This hike is rated somewhat strenuous hike with covering approximately ~9.3 miles and cumulative ascent of ~1,950ft. Average moving speed will be 2.5 to 2.8 MPH. Not suggested for hikers hiking less the 15miles/week. \THIS IS NOT A BEGINERS HIKE\ MEET: Be ready to hike at 9:00AM in the parking lot in front of the Discovery Museum at Fort Baker. Please be prepared with at least two liters of water, snacks, layered clothing, hiking boots/shoes, sun screen and hat. Pack a lunch. If you normally use trekking poles, you may wish to bring them along. Current weather forecasts suggest mostly sunny skies, 58 to 64 degrees and a 9 to 14MPH breeze. Please check your favorite weather site for more details and updates prior to hike. Porta Potty toilets are available at the staging area and at Hawk hill before the lunch break. After our lunch break, vault toilets are available at McCullough/Conzelman Rd Circle. \No water is available at trailhead or anywhere on the hike.
