🌱 Cloud Native Sustainability Month 2026 - Barcelona Edition 🌱

We are excited to announce the fourth edition of Cloud Native Sustainability Month 🌱. We're partnering again with our good friends at the Green Software Foundation Barcelona 🤝. The sustainability movement is stronger year after year!

CNCF Sustainability Month is an annual event organized by the CNCF Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group. The event's primary goal is to promote environmental sustainability in the cloud native industry and open-source space. Find out more in this post.

📅 Agenda

18:30-18:45. Doors Open.
18:45-19:45. Community Talks
19:45-20:30. Mingling and food.

🗣️ Talks
1️⃣ Make Software part of the Solution
🎙️ Thibault Schnellbach, Consulting and QA Lead at Schwarz Digits Spain
An introduction to the Green Software Foundation learning and SCI Self-Certification.

2️⃣ Monitoring Power at Planet Scale with Kepler
🎙️Niki Manoledaki, Staff Software Engineer at Grafana Labs.
Kepler is a CNCF Sandbox project that monitors power usage and attributes it to Pods and other resources in Kubernetes clusters. Adoption is growing: leading Linux Foundation Project Sylva telco carriers use it to optimize CNFs on bare metal, and CERN uses it to reduce the environmental impact of their MLOps against their sustainability KPIs. Yet while Kepler took a step forward in accuracy during the rewrite, we had to take a big step backward for the virtual machine use case, since we lost the trained model server (hint: we're solving this). What challenges and opportunities lie ahead for the project?

3️⃣ Optimize AI Workflows to Save Energy
🎙️ Obaid ur Rehman, CEO at CapInDev Technologies
Obaid will share how they optimize workflows and AI usage to reduce consumption, which affects energy usage and the environment.
