Surgery Museum & Drinks | Old Operating Theatre | London Bridge

Sat 8 Aug · 2pm · The Old Operating Theatre Museum

Rusty Instruments, Rustier Small Talk! We are going to Europe's oldest surviving operating theatre! (Entry fee £9.00). The Old Operating Theatre, where surgery would be performed without anaesthetic by drunken barbers in front of an audience in the room the size of your autistic dad's garden shed. There's loads of weird and wonderful things to look at, you can even pretend to be a surgeon from the 1800s, but please, no amputations. It's cramped, creaky, and full of Victorian medical implements (like my love live). Afterwards, drinks nearby for anyone who wants to sit down and process their life choices (and have a few laughs and make new friends) Will definitely happen: At least one person reading every single plaque out loud to no one in particular A collective wince at the amputation saws Someone asking "wait, they did this awake?" more than once Will probably not happen: Anyone fainting (the Victorians did that enough for all of us) A hippy woowoo sharing circle (eugh!) Small talk that isn't immediately derailed by a jar of something unidentifiable Nearest tube and rail is London Bridge. The Old Operating Theatre 9a St Thomas St, London SE1 9RY Map here Meet outside at 2pm! I'll be wearing a heavily used butcher's apron waving an axe around. Not really, I'll be the gigachad in black jeans and black shirt. ADHD London | Inclusive events | Neurodivergent | Make new friends | ADHD Social
